Now lets say you placed in that room a glass of hundred-year-old brandy, the rarest, finest cognac --- and filled the room with its warm aroma --- how do you think he would fare them? Maybe that’s not the right comparison. Maybe it would be too easy to turn down the brandy. Perhaps I should have made our alcoholic a heroin addict instead. Bella: So what you're saying is, I'm your brand of heroin? Edward: Yes, you are exactly my brand of heroin.
Bella: I'm here... which, roughly translated, means I would rather die than stay away from you.
Edward: Bella, I couldn't live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don't know how it's tortured me. The thought of you, still, white, cold - to never see you blush scarlet again, to never see that flash of intuition in your eyes when you see through my pretenses - it would be unendurable. You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.
Bella: I miss you. Edward: I know, Bella. Believe me, I know. It's like you've taken half my self away with you. Bella: Come and get it, then. Edward: Soon, as soon as I possibly can. I will make you safe first. Bella:I love you. Edward: Could you believe that, despite everything I've put you through, I love you, too? Bella: Yes, I can, actually. Edward: I'll come for you soon. Bella: I'll be waiting.
Edward:The only guess I have is that maybe your mind doesn’t work the same way the rest of theirs do. Like your thoughts are on the AM frequency and I’m only getting FM.
Bella:About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was part of him — and I didn’t know how potent that part might be — that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
Bella:I wasn’t interesting. And he was. Interesting… and brilliant… and mysterious… and perfect… and beautiful… and possibly able to lift full-sized vans with one hand.
Edward:Don’t be offended, but you seem to be one of those people who just attract accidents like a magnet. So… try not to fall into the ocean or get run over or anything, all right?
Bella:Did you ever think that maybe my number was up the first time, with the van, and that you’ve been interfering with fate? Edward:Your number was up the first time I met you.
Edward:For almost ninety years I’ve walked among my kind, and yours… all the time thinking I was complete in myself, not realizing what I was seeking. And not finding anything, because you weren’t alive yet.
